The Role

Overheard Dating is looking for a freelance Content Creator to drive our day-to-day dating and relationships content. This person will ideate, write, produce, and publish content that feels unmistakably “Overheard”. Quick-witted, culturally plugged-in, and ultra-relatable, while keeping every post tuned to the specific chaos, humor, and heartbreak of modern dating.

You'll work across written editorial, social-first video, and supporting formats to keep the Overheard Dating feed fresh, funny, and dynamic. This is a project-based / freelance role ideal for someone who lives and breathes internet culture and dating-app discourse, moves fast, and can turn everyday dating moments into scroll-stopping content.

You'll collaborate closely with the Editor, Social Leads, and the broader Overheard team, contributing ideas in pitch meetings, helping build new formats, and upholding brand consistency across platforms.

Responsibilities

Publish Dating Content

• Write and publish original, on-voice content for Overheard Dating on a consistent schedule.
• Write sharp, witty, brand-aligned captions, headlines, copy, and scripts in the Overheard voice, tailored to dating and relationship audiences.
• Ensure every post feels platform-native and culturally relevant, dating-app behavior, situationships, texting etiquette, red and green flags, and the broader discourse around modern dating.

Video Production + Editing

• Shoot, edit, and package low-lift short-form videos using an iPhone or consumer-grade equipment.
• Maintain a nimble, social-first production style that matches Overheard's pace and aesthetic.

Content Ideation + Development

• Bring fresh ideas to pitch meetings for editorial posts, video franchises, and comedic formats rooted in dating culture.

Brand + Voice Stewardship

• Uphold Overheard's tone, POV, aesthetics, and writing style across every asset.
• Stay on top of internet culture, trending humor formats, and dating-app conversations to keep the account relevant and timely.
• Partner with Creative, Social, and Editorial teams to support launches and content experiments.

Quality + Process

• Maintain high editorial standards for accuracy, clarity, and comedic alignment.
• Stay organized across a fast-moving content pipeline and deliver on deadlines.
• Contribute to evolving best practices and creative playbooks as Overheard Dating grows.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience in editorial, social content creation, media, publishing, entertainment, or a similar creative field.
• Exceptional writing skills with a comedic sensibility, able to nail Overheard's specific voice (quick, sharp, observational, irreverent, but never try-hard).
• Deep familiarity with dating culture: dating apps, modern relationship dynamics, and the conversations people are having about them online.
• Proven ability to ideate and execute social-first content across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and other emerging platforms.
• Comfortable shooting and editing video on iPhone or consumer-grade equipment.
• Strong understanding of meme culture and internet trends, and how to translate everyday dating moments into compelling content.
• Highly organized, able to manage multiple content streams and hit deadlines independently.
• Collaborative and communicative, excited to pitch, brainstorm, and build new formats.
• Bonus: familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, or other lightweight video editing tools.

Engagement Details

• Freelance / project-based; hours and cadence to be scoped with the Editor based on content volume.
